Tutorial: Look Busy and Minimize Gaps in Your Schedule

Acuity Scheduling makes it easy to control your time and how you share it with clients. With the look busy and minimize gaps settings, you can hide some of your availability to better influence your online bookings and organize your schedule.

How to look busy, even if you're not

If you have a lot of availability but want to appear more in demand, hide some appointments with the look busy setting. When you enable this setting, you'll still see your entire availability in the calendar panel, but clients booking online will only see some of your time slots.

In Acuity, click Availability, then select Global scheduling limits. From there, click Look busy, then toggle the feature on. Enter the percentage of slots you'd like to hide from clients. As the available slots are booked, they're hidden. Your calendar will continue to display the same percentage of slots to clients until the calendar starts to run out of slots.

How to minimize gaps in your schedule

You can also avoid downtime scattered throughout your day by turning on the minimize gaps setting. With this setting enabled, clients will only see open slots that are directly before or after your existing appointments.

To do this, click Minimize gaps, then toggle the feature on. Select the option to Avoid any gaps between appointments to minimize gaps during the day. If you don't mind larger gaps in your day, select Avoid small gaps, but allow gaps of your preferred minimum gap size.

Your scheduling secret’s safe with us

The look busy setting makes you look high in demand by hiding a percentage of your available time slots, while minimizing gaps helps you make the most of your time each day by clustering your appointments together. Use one, or both, to start scheduling smarter with Acuity today.
